Richard Pitz

I was born in Valley Stream NY, a small village adjacent to the New York City boundary.  In 1937, my birth year, this small village was home to about 7,000 people, most of who were gathered together in one area while the rest of the village was surrounded by farms.  This was pretty much the way it stayed until after the second world war.  I attended the local schools and walking over a mile each way was considered normal and in fact desirable for the students.  My family were of German descent and had a hard work, no nonsense view of life and taught me that everything had to be earned.

Both German and English was spoken in my house until my grandmother died and after that only English.  My fondest memory of my childhood was working on a farm for 25 cents an hour.

Upon graduation from high school, I attended Lehigh University and when my father became ill and money was needed at home I worked and went to various schools including Kansas Univ. and Hofstra Univ. In between my education I managed to do my military duty with the National Guard including 6 mos. Active duty.  Subsequent to my under graduate  work, I went to the University of Pennsylvania where I earned a dental degree.

After spending four years in post graduate training including oral surgery and anesthesia residencies I spent 44 years in general dental practice in New York City.  I was very involved in organized dentistry and was a member of the Board of Directors of the First District Dental Society (3,000) members and a member of the Committee on Chemical Dependence at the state level.  I am a holder of three dental patents and continue to work on others.  I am married to Lynn who I met when she was a model for Eileen ford and have been married for 37 years.  We have been coming to the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area for 36 years and bought a home in Punta Gorda in 2008.  My interest is in good economic government.  I believe money is meant to be put to its highest moral purpose.
